From the East Worshipful Master John Davis |
Brethren, we will have a stated meeting for the month of March. The meeting will be within the restrictions outlined by the Grand Lodge. I will keep members updated as the situation changes. We will be practicing degree work on a regular schedule. On the last Tuesday of every month, we will hold practice for the next upcoming degree. (This was just changed for march, and the practice will instead be held on the second Tuesday.) For the month of March and April, we will be working on the Fellowcraft degree. If you would like to participate or learn any part of the degree work, please contact the Senior Warden or come down to the lodge during practice. As I write these Trestle boards, I felt that I want others to get more out of the few minutes they spend reading them. I will try and include a form of Masonic education for all to benefit. I spend a lot of time reading about Masonry; sometimes as much as I do about medicine, and I always learn something new. A person stated, “We Masons are among the fortunate ones who are taught to meet together with others opposing convictions or competitive ideas and yet respect each other as Brothers.” I felt this statement is good to represent our current times. I may not always agree with everyone I meet, but I do like to hear their opinions and reason. This flow of ideas will only serve to better us as a person and collectively as a fraternity. Homework: Who stated the above statement? Tell me next time I see you in person. And Part on the Square |
From the West Senior Warden Jim Warriner |
Brethren, I have just received and I am sure our Worshipful Master has as well, a modification to the Grand Master’s Edict. An increase in attendance is being allowed. No in person degree work (Can it be done another way?) but we need to adhere to guidelines. No meal/refreshment service, keep 6 feet apart, wear masks, and use hand sanitizer. Masks and sanitizer are/will be available at the lodge. I respectfully ask that all Brothers respect and comply with these guidelines. Remember that the penalties for violations will be levied on the senior officers (i.e. the WM, SW, JW) I look forward to our practice for FC Degree and stated meeting in March. Practice will be adjusted to keep safe distance but allow officers to learn floor work as well as spoken ritual. And Meet On The Level |
From the South Junior Warden Tracy Morton |
My Brothers, Corn Wine & Oil, Wages all masons should know. In biblical history the modern corn is not what we think it is. According to historical documents corn of history is grain, mostly barley and wheat. Looking at this in a new perspective, barley and wheat can be used in several ways. Wheat can be ground and used to make bread, cakes, cookies, and other food products. The use of wheat has been part of the world from days of old. Barley is used in several ways. It is used for nourishment of both man and animals, but what is known best is that barley is used in the production of beer. Beer was discovered around 7500 BC, and has been in use since then. The understanding of these as wages is of use. Both items help nourish the body. The symbolism of nourishment is seen in that aspect of nourishing the soul to better your life. Masonry teaches us to better ourselves to be better for our communities. Oil is an Item with many uses, mainly for light and nourishment. The use for nourishment is used as part of the cooking process and can be made of various items. Corn, Olive, Canola, Vegetable, Grapeseed, and other nut types have been uses by several civilizations throughout history. The burning of oil as Light and heat has been used just as long. Wine is something that should be used in moderation as to the aspect of overindulgence and the inebriation that it can cause. Teaching us to learn moderation in our vices and to subdue the passions of life should be everyone’s goal. As we are looking forward to the day when we can start to have dinners again, we have discussed having one on stated meeting day’s. With this said we are also working on ideas as to an activity for our significant others. I pose the question, to your significant other, what sort of activity would you be interested in that will take place while we are in a meeting? Your can send me an email with your response. chef_morton@hotmail.com AND ACT BY THE PLUMB |
